The Facility
Named after legendary coach, mentor, administrator, and Principia "Hall of Famer," Jim Crafton, the 100,000 square foot Crafton Athletic Training Center boasts what other large universities only dream of each year. Coach Crafton left a lasting impression on many of his former charges through teaching, football, and athletics, and therefore, this facility was designed to give athletes the tools to achieve the high caliber of excellence he brought here.
The training center is built to serve Principia's varsity sports in-season and off-season and other recreational activities. It includes a multi-leveled, state-of- the-art weight room, 6-lane 200-meter indoor track (with 8 lanes for a 55 meter straightaway), pole vault and high jump stations, and a sandpit for the long jump and triple jump. The training center also includes 2 basketball courts, 2 full-length college sized volleyball courts, a practice baseball infield, 2 drop down batting cages, and soccer goals for indoor training. Attached to the Crafton Center is the Natatorium.
