Elsah, Ill. - Principia warmly welcomes James King to its Athletic Department as the new Sports Information Director (SID). This will be the first time the college will have a full-time SID and will greatly serve the college in promoting its athletic achievements. Already, James has designed a plan to help tighten and organize the website these next 6 months.

“We’ve made a terrific hire in bringing James on because of his savvy with the internet. He will make our website pop. That’s what we’ve been looking for and I’m very excited about the talents he’s going to bring to that activity,” said Athletic Director Lee Ellis. He further stated that “it’s easy to make stats available but I think it takes a real talent to make those stats come alive and that’s what James is going to do for us.”

The Athletic Department has long dreamed of hiring a full-time SID, but it wasn’t until late this year that they really felt it was possible. Commenting on the reason for this change, Ellis stated “there’s a stat I came across: nearly 98 percent of all colleges and universities belonging to the NCAA, have full-time sports information directors. In order for us to move into this new era where the website is so prevalent, we felt it was time to remove sports information from committee and to turn it over to one professional who has responsibility and accountability for that function.”

James brings an impressive resume to aid him in this position as he returns from Principia after graduating in 2006. As a Principia College graduate, James King immediately put his business degree to use as an Admissions Counselor. There, he helped usher in a 21st century recruiting plan which embraced new tools like social networking and iPhone video blogging. Most recently, James earned his licenses as a stock broker with Scottrade where he became a social media and chat specialist. Now, as the Sports Information Director (SID), James brings his creativity and passion for Principia to the Athletic Department.
