HONOLULU, HAWAII -- Alan Cheatham got off to a not so inconspicuous start this summer playing catcher for the Waikiki Surfers (http://bit.ly/bn8huq). And now, Cheatham’s summer story continues as he battled out many DI players to land a spot on the Hawaii Collegiate League All-Star team. Consistently hitting at or above .300, Cheatham mentions that it’s “fun being surrounded by high quality players” and that “one of my highlights [of the season so far] is definitely the All-Star game.”
“Alan can flat out hit a baseball,” Principia College head coach Pete Paciorek says. “He has a strong core and quick hands; two vital ingredients to being a great hitter. The sky is the limit to how good he can be. He has the tools to be a professional ballplayer, but he needs to continue to develop as a catcher defensively, and continue to hone his craft as a player. I am excited to see what he will do as a junior and senior.”
As one of only 10 DIII players in the entire Hawaii Collegiate League consisting of 150 players, Cheatham aids the Waikiki Surfers as they defend their 1st place ranking. Don’t miss a minute of Cheatham’s progress as the Surfers compete in their last three games of the summer season:
