Villanova, Pa. - In an eight-day intensive coaching certification school at Villanova University, assistant track and field coach Philip Green joined among the ranks of many talented cross country and track and field coaches to gain his first USA Track & Field Level 2 coaching certification in the “Jumps” disciplines. Under the mentoring and instructive support of elite-level coaches including Oklahoma University’s Jeremy Fischer and Michigan State University’s Chris Bostwick, Green found the answers to producing high-level jumpers at the collegiate level.
At the end of the certification process, Green collaborated with four other coaches from Division I and NAIA institutions to devise a training program and to also be tested on the material covered in their event group. Green also conducted one-on-one video analysis of current student-athlete, triple jumper/sprinter Oyintari Aboro. Green looks forward to using his new found understanding to develop student-athletes for the next level in their training and competition. Both an insightful and memorable educational experience, Green has formed connections with classmates, roommates and many other coaches from other event disciplines. With a broadened network, Green will put his coaching to the test in the 2011 winter and spring quarters.
