Elsah, Ill. - The Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams were awarded Scholar All-American Team honors for the 2010 winter quarter by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Principia College promotes its athletics as a vehicle for pursuing excellence both on and off the field, and that is precisely what the swimming teams have accomplished.
The CSCAA selects teams as Scholar All-Americans twice a year. It is a merit-based honor, and each team must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 for the semester. The men’s swimming & diving team averaged a 3.120 GPA, while the women’s swimming & diving team far surpassed the minimum requirement at a 3.344 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale).
Two individuals from the team were further recognized this past season by Principia for their academic excellence; Andrew Furbush from the men’s swimming team, and Emily Sander from the women’s diving team were members of the Jackie Tindall Moser 4.0 club for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in season.
