Honolulu, Hawaii - In his first two years as a Principia College ballplayer, Alan Cheatham has already broken the single season and career homerun records. This summer Cheatham is playing in one of the top collegiate summer wood bat leagues in the country on the beautiful island of Oahu. Cheatham is one of a few DIII players in the league, which is comprised primarily of DI players.
"Alan is a terrific ballplayer and I have no doubt that he will continue to showcase his many talents in Hawaii this summer. I think he has the talent to play professionally after he graduates if he continues to develop as a player," commented Principa College Head Coach Pete Paciorek.
Alan has been batting in the 3-hodile for his team, the Waikiki Surfers, while also catching and playing secondbase.
Below is a direct quote regarding Cheatham's monster homerun from the Hawaii League's website:
Surfers’ catcher Alan Cheatham (Principia College) deposited a 2-2 offering over the left field wall for the second long ball of the young season. “Right off of his bat it was out,” said Surfers Head Coach Steve Hernandez. “He hit 10 out of school so it doesn’t surprise me.” “On a 2-2 count I always expect a fastball but it ran in a little; I got all of it,” Cheatham said confidently.
