March 3, 2010 - Principia Panther basketball star Todd Zimmerman was named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SLIAC) basketball All-Conference Honorable Mention team and the All-Conference Academic team. Zimmerman really began to hit his stride in the final 4 games scoring 29, 31, 27 and 24 points against Greenville, Webster, Fontbonne and Westminster.
He scored his 1000th career point against Greenville and in his career-high game (31 points) against Webster he hit a half-court shot at the half-time buzzer. In the Westminster 111-105 loss he also contributed 11 assists.
As a member of the SLIAC All-Conference Academic team Zimmerman maintained at least a 3.5 GPA througout the season.
Zimmerman's accomplishments were all part of a season of improvement this year following a dismal 1-24 over all record and 0-16 conference record in the previous season. This year the Panthers improved to a 6-19 overall record and a 3-13 conference record. Prin was picked to finish last in the SLIAC this year but ended up finishing 8th out of 9th. The season was highlighted by Principia's sweep of basketball powerhouse Fontbonne University and last year's conference champs. Since Principia joined the SLIAC in 1990 the basketball program has never swept Fontbonne in a season. Their win at Fontbonne 74-70 was also the first road win at Fontbonne in 19 years. The Panthers completed the season series sweep of Fontbonne on Senior Day in Elsah with a 79-62 victory. The season concluded in Fulton, MO with an all night back and forth battle against this year's conference champs Westminster College. Westminster pulled out a 111-105 victory in the end.
Senior Sam Douglas finished his 4-year career as a 1000 point scorer and led the conference with 3-point field goals made. Douglas, Prin's biggest man a 6'2" was also deadly from the outside.
Principia finished the season as the league's top 3-point shooting team. Last year Prin was dead last in that category.
