The Principia College bats exploded in their first home game of the 2010 season, winning convincingly 13-5 against St. Louis Christian. Every batter in the lineup had at least one base hit. Jeff Strickland, Matt Bowman, Alan Cheatham, Ron Meyer, Andy Winterbottom, and Isaac Swiderski each had multiple hit games, while Samuel Thomas had 4 hits of his own.
Principia and St. Louis were locked up in a tight ballgame in the 5th inning when junior captain Spencer Brown broke the game open with a 3-run, two out rocket homerun to deep centerfield. Brown, who is one of the Panthers top clutch performers, delivered on a 2-strike offering from the St. Louis southpaw. From there the Panthers never looked back.
On the mound, sophomore Samuel Thomas earned his 2nd victory of the young season as he went 5 strong innings giving up 2 runs, while striking out 7 batters.
